Week 16 - Walking uphill

Yet another weekend where we went down on a Saturday - and this time really late on Saturday, although I must admit it was down to me because I wanted to watch Ireland play rugby but no one seemed to mind as Amanda and I went down the Oak for a few on Friday night and then sat around our back garden with the patio heater and candles chatting away- later joined by the girls after Bronwyns romantic dinner in Cardiff with Gary.

So a hazy start to Saturday morning which in the end turned out to be the right decision as the weather was not that great on Saturday. Good enough to get the BB going though on a very still night down in Newquay as we talked away until the wine ran out and I went to bed leaving Ann, Amanda and Ann from next door charactor assasinating a fellow caravan owner, although not one of our crowd and not a very nice person by all accounts, but this demonstration of the female excessive gossip gene along with taking 30 minutes to shower, never driving to the pub when its their turn and Jade Goodey are just a few of the more compelling reasons why the glass ceiling should not just be shored up but thoroughly fortified and made completely girly proof.

I digress.

Sunday didn't start out too bright and leaving Bethan in the caravan pouting for reasons best known to herself, Amanda, Bronwyn, John and I decided to go over to Llangranog for the day.

Parking the car in the pub just off the beach we decided to walk over to Ynys Lochtyn. Ynys Lochtyn or 'Crocodile Island' is a small peninsula jutting out into the sea about mile along the coast outside Llangranog. Easy walk to get there it is not - but once up the first hill/mountain the views are stunning and after walking down onto the island it was just great to sit on the edge of the cliffs watching the waves and the Fulmars shooting along on the breeze. The day was also turning hotter - personally I could have just sat there all afternoon but after about an hour we made our way back to Llangranog where John treated everyone to one of the superb home made ice creams in the cafe on the beach before wandering about the shoreline for one last time. Time enough indeed for Bronwyn to drop her mobile phone into a rockpool and find a few spider crabs to pose with before we left.

Mobile phone sort of recovering after its drowning we headed back to South Wales in the brilliant sunshine to be met with monsoons as we crossed the Brecon Beacons.

Ah well it is home after all. Next week looks like another Saturday excursion but the forecast looks like it could be sweltering hot so hopefully time to get back in the water - or perhaps just open a bud and think about it.
